Good afternoon!

This morning I was able to announce that in May I will be moving from Chesterfield Parish Church to a new role at Guildford Cathedral.

As I will be 68 this year, I decided last autumn that I no longer have the capacity to manage my role in Chesterfield through to the required retirement age of 70, and in the process of deciding where I should ‘land’ I have been blessed by an invitation to join the team at Guildford Cathedral for a season on a ‘House for Duty’ basis, where Millie and I shall be provided with (excellent) accommodation in the Cathedral Close, and associated expenses, in return for a commitment of at least three days a week.  I shall be leading services, preaching, setting in place new planning systems, and providing a general quiet presence and support in and around the Cathedral, all during some major changes in staffing.

My resignation at Chesterfield will take effect from 1st May, and the intention is that I shall then move to Guildford in time to be settled by the end of the month.  My last service in Chesterfield will be Choral Evensong at 6.30 p.m. on Sunday 26th April, and for any bell-ringers among you I gather there is to be a peal attempt starting early that afternoon.

I would as always appreciate your thoughts and prayers at this time, and will be happy to pass on my new contact details on request, and as always to welcome and entertain visitors.

With my prayers and all good wishes,
